Tingles…tingles…TINGLES!!!
If you don’t know what ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) is then let me put you on game.
You ever felt relaxed when someone played in your hair? Does watching someone put on makeup put you in a trance? Or do certain sounds make a tingly wave go down your body?
ASMR describes a feeling of euphoric tingling and relaxation that can come over you when you watch or hear certain sounds. People get the feeling of ASMR from various triggers including spraying a water bottle, tapping, whispering, chewing or crinkling paper.
Watching ASMR videos make me relaxed and sleepy. Some of the sounds mirror rushing water or rain (taps). I didn’t know I was a fan until I started watching these videos and couldn’t stop.
Not everyone is triggered by ASMR, but if you are or would like to find out here are my top 5 ASMR YouTube artists to watch:
1. GraceV
I started watching her videos earlier this year. She now has over 200k subscribers which is awesome and shows she knows what she’s doing. Check her out, this is one of my fave videos. Puts me to seep almost instantly, I don’t know how!
2. Haley Jean
She has a lot of different types of ASMR videos but my favorite are her makeup videos. A close second are her videos playing games on her phone, these videos don’t give me a lot of tingles but this chick is HILARIOUS, if you need tips on how to be yourself on YouTube watch her because her personality shines through on camera. I admire her for that.
3. Maddie ASMR
I think I just like watching makeup tutorials mixed with ASMR sounds. Maddie only does makeup, which is basically the type of ASMR that I get triggers from. The taps and twists of caps and whispers.
4. GwenGwiz ASMR
I’m not the biggest fan of role play ASMR, I like more talk to me than at me. Gwen has some really good and really popular videos. The one below is my favorite, I didn’t know typing on a keyboard gave me tingles until I watched this video. Many of these ASMR artists on my list also have non ASMR channels and vlogs.
5. ASMR Darling
This is the first ASMR artist I ever watched many many months ago and how I got into ASMR in the first place. So had to give her a shout out! ASMR Darling has over 2 million followers now which is crazy. She used to post more frequently so there’s tons of videos in the archives.
Honorable mention: ASMRtheChew
I don’t normally watch eating/chewing ASMR but this woman is all over the internet eating these pickles and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t intrigued. I watched it and was halfway between this is awesome and WTF. She has a lot more videos and some I can’t watch but if eating ASMR sends you tingles check her out!
